Rebound Will
Purpose
A small city in the northern polar region of Scandinavia may not seem like an important site to the Union. But Oulu has potential that the Technocracy will not surrender to superstitionists, traitors, and Reality Deviants. Operating out of the heart of the city, Symposium #SO7074 pulls the Masses into its fold by sharing better and better technological advancements. The Scientists revel in proving to the world that a small city once known as a fishing village and wood tar mill is a center of evolution for all humankind.
Of course, the Union in Oulu does not tolerate fools or idealistic dreamers. This is a place of practical application and pragmatic solutions. The Union only thanks its good fortune that there seems to be a tame amount of RDs in town. Oulu appears to be a city much of the Hidden World has foolishly overlooked. But the Union does not, will not, make that error. It banks on the people of Oulu.
As for the superstitionist occult rumors of sun-darkening rituals, pfah. The Union dismisses such talk as ludicrous. Still, the talk is excuse enough to set aerial drones and marching HIT Marks on regular patrol pathways throughout the region.
Protocols
The Protocols of Damian certainly count in Oulu. The Symposium knows the Masses need the comforts of curated ignorance for the time being, even as they unwittingly help bring the Union’s paradigm ever forward.
Pogrom
This Symposium is not involved in any active Pogroms against Reality Deviants at the moment. But Iteration X calls the shots around here. Since the Convention always feels eager to try out new toys, any public reality deviance certainly results in a quick and brutal crackdown.
Special Events
Special events are annual (or more frequent) holidays or special ritual days that the main group or groups observe as a whole community. Attendance and participation are often expected of all members, and sometimes required.
Viestintäteknikka
An annual convention, Viestintäteknikka literally means “IT”. This science expo focuses on fiberwire and wireless technology developments not just Finland or even just Europe. It attracts minds from all over the world. Some people take the event competitively as they seek grant money. The Union’s scientists get involved for the same reason, hoping to catch Control’s eye so that he leans on the Syndicate’s Disbursements branch to their benefit. It is usually held in late October at Tietomaa.
