The Changing Breeds
Bastet
Second to the Garou, the Bastet are the most widespread and populous shapechanger of all. However, the Bastet are even more territorial. The ancient lands of most Bastet Tribes are still their homes. Few wander beyond their native regions. Even those Tribes that wander naturally, such as Pumonca, stick to their homeland -- they just happen to call all of North America their home.
And so in the Middle Kingdom, only two of the nine Tribes are commonly known. Of those two Tribes, only one commonly participates in the Beast-Courts. The other maintains neutral if not decent relationships with the hengeyokai, at least. The other Bastet rarely even know what the hengeyokai are, nevermind join the Beast-Courts. To top it off, Bastet mentality tends to make werecats aloof from any institutions. Where solitary nature fails, pride prevails. Thus, even if there were still Asian Simba today, they would probably not member the hengeyokai Courts.
Bagheera
Bagheera can be found native to India and its surrounding region, Africa, and even occasionally in North America. Those werepanthers in Africa or America have little to nothing to do with hengeyokai. The Indian Bagheera, however, maintain open lines of communication with their Beast-Court neighbors. Since the hengeyokai and “unaffiliated” Fera all share Indian soil, and in the face of many ancient demons, such pacts are only sensible. Few Bagheera take up the Great Burden, however. The Bagheera elders consider the Beast-Courts an imprudent path for the werepanther (even if they agree that communion between the Shadow Folk is wise). They tend to feel most often that the solitary road that Bagheera walk to learn wisdom and secrets in life would only be hampered by the additional laws of the hengeyokai. A few younger werepanthers have ignored this belief and joined anyway.
Balam
The Balam are native only to South and Central America. The werejaguars have no ties to the hengeyokai. As xenophobic as they are, most Balam have never even seen Asia, nevermind a hengeyokai.
Bubasti
When Set and his Childer conquered Egypt, the Silent Striders were thrown out. But the Bubasti just went underground. For the most part, they live there today. Many Bubasti have spread out far and wide, some to Europe and to America. But the Tribe as a general whole -- not that it’s particularly large -- is limited to North Africa and the Middle East. Some Bubasti may have traveled briefly to the East and learned of the hengeyokai, but none are likely to have stayed. The risk of their Tribe’s secrets leaking out to more Killi than they’d like assures that.
Ceilican
The Ceilican are counted in a mere handful. They’ve spread far and wide, and all of them share too much in common with their Western ancestry. For example, there are no native fae in the East (they have hsien instead, who have almost no ties to the Dreaming). Why would there be Ceilican? The likelihood of a Ceilican “going Japanese” is as equal as a Bubasti’s likelihood.
Khan
Of all Bastet, only the Khan maintain any long-term ties to the Beast-Courts. Sadly, this Tribe has been sorely tested over the past few centuries. There are perhaps a hundred weretigers left in the world, and only half that number at best owe allegiance to the hengeyokai. Those not associated with the hengeyokai are often those that prefer solitude above all, or just don’t live in Asia (and a fair number don’t). The Khan in the Beast-Courts tend to hold themselves aloof from their unaffiliated brethren. For a tiger, duty is paramount, and the Beast-Courts offer greater duty still.
Pumonca
The Pumonca as a Tribe are restricted to North America even though the cougar can be found elsewhere in the world. This is due to the Tribal Yava. So while the occasional werepuma may visit Asia and the Beast-Courts, they would not be able to join because they would have to return to their homeland.
Qualmi
The Qualmi are similar to the Pumonca except they are not bound to America by Yava, only their territorialism. Lynxes do not wander much, like jaguars. Their changing kin are similar in this regards. This does not mean Qualmi have not and would not visit with the Beast-Courts, but joining their ranks is out of the question. There are no Asian Qualmi, only North American.
Simba
Once Simba ranged as far as India. The War of Rage and conflicts with the Khan Sultanates, as well as other Killi, changed that. Once Mayo’i were found out this way. But this “sub-Tribe” is now based only in Africa, as are their more aggressive brethren. Due to the Simba’s occasional conflicts with the Khan, and the presence of Khan among the hengeyokai, the likelihood that the Simba would member the Beast-Courts even if they still dwelled in the Middle Kingdom is very low. Too much ego cramped in the same area.
Swara
Werecheetahs roam the grasslands and savannas of Africa, not Asia. There are, however, Asiatic cheetahs. Though disconnected from their Tribal homeland, and very rare in the making, it is not unthinkable that a few Oriental Swara exist. The few that do exist may be found in the Beast-Courts and may not. As it such a rare occurrence, it is strictly up to the individual. Naturally, due to the native surroundings, Asian Swara won’t be black humans -- and may have trouble adapting to Africa. (Racism works many different directions.) Or perhaps, at least, these Swara would suspect that sort of oppression would exist and stay close to their origins. As they may not want to be solely alone, such Bastet may be drawn to the Beast-Courts for education and home. But for the vast part, Swara stick to Africa.
