This document provides a standardized reference for many different kinds of firearms. Listed here also are some modern weapons, such as grenades and missiles. This listing will not provide a description of the weapon, only base modifiers. These weapons are categorized by the appropriate Techniques: Assault Rifles, Handguns, Heavy Weapons, Rifles, Shotguns, and Submachine Guns. Hand-thrown grenades would actually be covered with the Thrown Weapons Technique of Throwing, so are lumped here under Heavy Weapons (since they’re explosives). The weapons are further broken down into smaller groups; this is just for easier reference.
Note that these modifiers are standard but not required. Weapons can be modified, or a weapon not on this list may be used.
After each weapon’s heading, the following statistics are listed:
- Caliber: the size (length) of the bullets used by this weapon
- Damage: the base damage the weapon inflicts (before “to hit” success bonuses and/or ammunition modifiers)
- Rate: the maximum number of bullets the weapon can discharge per turn
- Clip: how many bullets the weapon carries before reloading
- Range: the standard (medium) range for the weapon; “20S” is the common denominator for shotguns, indicating buckshot (standard shotgun ammo) spreads outwards in a cone; damage dice are subtracted after 20 feet up to 40 feet distance
- Accuracy: a bonus or penalty to attack rolls based on the weapon’s design
- Initiative: a bonus or penalty to the character’s Initiative (if he’s using that weapon that turn) based on the weapon’s design
- Conceal: the space needed to conceal a weapon: P=pocket, J=jacket, T=trench coat, N=none, cannot be effectively concealed on the body
- Notes: a few weapons need a little extra information on this listing
Any time two numbers are quoted and separated by a “/”, this indicates the weapon commonly has two settings depending on its use. For example, a folding stock can add range but reduce concealment when unfolded. Extended clips are common for many automatic weapons, though are more common in military use.
