There are also approximately a half-dozen young Running Monkeys in service to the Court. Their Dharmic inclinations vary but they are still young enough to barely understand beyond the first few levels. Scarlet Screens & Influences
The Court of the Ebon Flame is the most influential organization in Little Asia. It had almost thirty years to develop the ties it now has. This influence extends from legitimate to illegitimate enterprises. Most of these forces grant massive economic power but less political prowess. The Court is not as interested in swaying the affairs of the city as it is in using the city to amass as much wealth as possible. The Court of the Ebon Flame has hundreds of millions of dollars worth of investments. This includes direct control over the International Bank of Beijing, stock in the Jin Zhangpeng, and investments in Dairin, Inc.
Furthermore, the Wan Kuei exert control over local mobs. Most of the Triads and yakuza both owe unwitting allegiance to the Court. The two major families, the Yung (Triad) and the Kazai (yakuza), have both been all but bought by the Court through their financial ties, proper uses of Obligation, and shrewd placement of loyal mortal retainers. These two families include altogether at least a hundred gunmen and administrators and immense criminal underworld power. They comprise the Court’s most important Scarlet Screens.
Nearly as important is the tong-styled Scarlet Screen set at the Bamboo Tower: the SWAT-trained security force. Though numbering only twenty, they are well-armed and well-trained and loyal unto death.
