Kinfolk: Pure Breed
This section verifies whether (human) Kinfolk can take Pure Breed. Certain Changing Breeds' and Tribes' Kinfolk, for whatever reasons, cannot take this Background Trait.
Ajaba: The Ajaba do not recognize Pure Breed in their Kin or themselves. They do not hold their kind to ancestral legacy, rewarding only what a person makes of himself in the present.
Ananasi: The Ananasi do not recognize Pure Breed in themselves. Their Kinfolk have long been too scattered due to the Wars of Rage for the ancient legacies to linger.
Bastet: The Bastet Tribes all honor Pure Breed, and their Kinfolk can develop this Trait, too.
Corax: Although the Corax do not honor Pure Breed as social status among themselves, they cherish good breeding in their Kin. Corax Kinfolk may take Pure Breed.
Garou: The restrictions on Pure Breed for the Bone Gnawers and Glass Walkers and their Kin extend to the Wantong and Boli Zouiszhe, too.
Gurahl: All four Tribes of the Gurahl can take Pure Breed and so can the few Kinfolk remaining. This is due mainly to the Gurahl's cautious and keen breeding practices.
Kitsune: The Kitsune hold themselves above the social stratification of Pure Breed. But they expect only the best breeding in their Kinfolk. This Trait is a requisite of Kitsune Kinfolk, who must take at least two dots at character creation.
Mokolé: All four Streams can take Pure Breed and it is not uncommon for their Kinfolk to manifest this Trait. Their breeding practices are the best of all Fera today; only the Apis exceeded their brood kenning in ages past.
Nagah: Though the Nagah can take the Pure Breed Trait, their Kinfolk are few and in between. The wereserpents in fact lost track of almost all of their Kinfolk families during the Wars of Rage and Shame. Most were assimilated into other Changing Breeds. Pure Breed is not a possible Trait for Nagah Kin.
Nuwisha: Nuwisha side with the Corax when it comes to Pure Breed in all views.
Ratkin: Ratkin are much like the Ajaba when it comes to Pure Breed.
Rokea: Rokea do not take Pure Breed. However, as rare as it is that they mate with humans, the Kinfolk children almost always have Pure Breed. Human Kin of the weresharks must take at least two dots of Pure Breed at character creation as requisite. In Western waters, this is especially a drawback. Dimwaters and other Betweener-hunters can home in on human Kinfolk that much easier...
Humanity Costs
All human characters in the CoLA Troupe must take the Humanity Trait. At character creation, one's Humanity begins at a score equal to the sum of one's Conscience and Self-Control. It can then be improved with freebie points at a cost of 2 per point. The books then state that improving the Humanity Trait takes a great deal of appropriate roleplaying and a cost in experience points: the current rating x2.
However, as per this house rule of the CoLA Troupe, the Humanity Trait no longer costs any XP to raise. It still demands appropriate and lengthy roleplay. Dots in the Trait are awarded only at the Storyteller's discretion. This rule also applies to Cainites and their Humanity and even their Paths of Enlightenment.
