Terms of the Asian Restless

  • Conquered Territories: The non-Chinese Shadowlands under the dominion of the Jade Kingdom. This includes the majority of the Asian Underworld to greater or lesser degree. Japan and Korea continue to pose the greatest rebellion, and Southeast Asia has never been easy to control.
  • Eunuch: A wraith that has been Moliated and enslaved through Way of the Scholar into a mindless public servant of the Kingdom of Jade, serving namely as a courier or recording “device”.
  • Feng-Tu (FEHNG-TOO): The entrance into the “Hell” built by the Jade Emperor as a place to send criminals and enemies.
  • Immortal Guard: The Jade Emperor’s elite army; incredibly strong and fanatically loyal troops unlike any other wraiths in the Underworld.
  • Jade Palace: The Emperor’s colossal abode, located within the Tempest.
  • Kuei (koo-AY-ee) : “Hungry Ghosts”; nearly mindless manifestations of the disgruntled P’o that has not been properly buried. They wander the Yellow Springs, causing mayhem.
  • Kuei-go (koo-AY-ee-GOH) : The equivalent to Western barghests; wraiths that have been tortured and Moliated into mindless killing machines. Also called “bad dogs”.
  • P’eng Lai (peh-EHNG-LAI): Another name for Paradise, a legendary Far Shore realm.
  • Qin Shihuang (CHIN-shee-WAHNG): Yu Huang, the Jade Emperor; in life, the first emperor of a united China. The Dark Kingdom of Jade’s answer to the West’s Charon.
  • Ti Yu (TEE-YOO): “Earth Prison”, the capital of Hell.
  • White Jade: The term for the milky white substance into which enslaved wraiths are often transformed through the Way of the Artisan; similar to Stygian soul-steel.
  • Yellow Springs: The Shadowlands of Asia.
  • Yu (YOO): The Chinese word for jade. True Jade in the Underworld is superior to White Jade, and can arrive only as in relic-form, but is much more enduring than other relics. It is comparable in might to Stygian steel.
