The Manual of Yi

Introduction

[Inscribed in an ancient version of Chinese, the Manual of Yi is an antiquity of deadlier but more righteous times. It is well over one hundred pages long, inscribed upon yellowed, crumbling rice paper pages. It must be given the greatest care or it will collapse into dust. It contains a variety of verses and demon-hunting lore. Included below are some of the more noteworthy contents.]

The Cycle

When the world was young,
the peoples knew their place.
When the world was young,
there were men who learned,
Wan Kuei who sought their peace,
hengeyokai who served their mother,
hsien who stood between the wild and man,
chi'n ta who turned the wheel,
restless ghosts who found their way home,
immortals who shone as ideals,
and spirit legions serving in every capacity.
Everyone else served Yomi,
and the world is still young.

As the Wheel turns:
shadows extend,
pyres light,
the dead howl,
corruption reigns,
the Way forgotten,
hell-flames dancing
as cities sprawl
and nature suffers.

There is only one way:
the Right Way.
All else is wrong.
Only the humble will know
the Right Way.
All others will fall.

The Army of Heaven is the
sword of righteousness,
its soldiers the instruments of the gods.
It will stand against the darkness again.
