The Manual of Yi

Techniques

[After this text, many pages of diagrams lay. The pictures portray a multitude of rare and deadly martial arts techniques of the Mo Chi kung fu style. Most of these maneuvers were introduced in Demon Hunter X and revised in the webbook, World of Darkness: Combat 2nd edition. However, below are new Special Maneuvers those who study Mo Chi kung fu may learn if the prerequisites are met.]

Impale

Prerequisites: Melee 2
XP Cost: 2
Usable With: Polearms

Description: The Celestial Army were feared and respected by many shen and men alike in the ancient times. They practiced their demon-hunting arts day and night, in order to produce the most efficient results a militia could. The use of spears and similar polearms against the Wan Kuei remained steady throughout their age. The ability to impale and immobilize such demons with these weapons was most important and a technique just for this purpose was perfected.

System: This is a fairly straightforward Maneuver. Use the modifiers below, with one addition: when attempting to stake any vampire through the heart, reduce the number of required Accuracy successes to 1 instead of 3. At least three Health Levels of damage must still get past the vampire's soak, however.
Cost: none
Initiative: -2
Accuracy: -2
Damage: +3
Move: -1

Sticky Parries

Prerequisites: Do 4/Brawl 5/Martial Arts 4, Dodge 4
XP Cost: 4

Description: Nothing is more frustrating than fighting someone who uses your own limbs against you. This defensive technique teaches a combatant how to do just that. By ensnaring his enemy's arm, he can twist and turn his foe about to interrupt other intended techniques without applying an actual lock. The reason this technique came about was for when applying a lock was unwise -- for example, the enemy brought friends (who won't just stand there while you put their buddy in an arm-lock).

System: A standard Grapple must first be achieved on one of the target's arms. For each turn this Hold is Sustained, the defender receives +3 dice to block any attacks from his enemy. Obviously, the opponent cannot use the held limb to do any attacking. The defender may also use his held opponent's limb to block any other attack. This is especially useful when your opponent's friend comes rushing at you with that lead pipe...
Cost: none
Initiative: +2
Accuracy: +0
Damage: none
Move: +0/-1 each turn after the first

Whipping Demons

Prerequisites: Martial Arts 4, Chi Breaker
XP Cost: 4

Description: The Shih are trained to master their own ch'i and eventually, their foes'. They learn to disrupt internal energies and cause immense damage by unbalancing Yin and Yang and in advanced cases, stealing or rendering useless that chi. But Yin and Yang aren't the only forms of chi energy available to demons. A corruption of Yin and Yang -- called Yomi -- grants the Wan Kuei the rage of their P'o. And this special technique denies them that, albeit temporarily. This technique, like Chi Breaker, targets special "energy gates" in the target's body and nervous system. The target areas used for Whipping Demons is considered a spot for psychological healing in acupressure; in the Hungry Dead, the P'o is awakened and thus a tangible force that can be directly manipulated through properly channeled ch'i-channeling attacks.

System: This Maneuver functions similarly to Chi Breaker except that it affects Demon Chi instead of Yin and Yang Chi. Whether or not the victim soaks the damage, he loses the ability to spend Demon Chi for one turn per Accuracy success. Furthermore, damage is enhanced by adding Accuracy successes to the damage roll (like a firearms attack). It can be soaked as bashing damage, however.
Cost: 2 Willpower
Initiative: -1
Accuracy: -2
Damage: See Above
Move: -1
