Storytellers

Head Storyteller

There is, for the time being, only one Storyteller in the CoLA game. This is Cam. He runs Stories on a regular and weekly basis. He manages the website, mailing lists, and character files. He also approves all characters.

Cam attempts to run one scene per week at least and will typically hold that scene sometime on a weekend evening. Notice will often be posted on the game's primary mailing list.

Please realize that while there is only one Storyteller, players are highly encouraged to offer comments and suggestions. Cam strongly believes in pro-active players and recommends the essay entitled "Turning Vampires into Lawn Chairs and Other Works of 'High' Magick" by Stephan Wieck. It is found on pages 203-204 of the Book of Shadows (The Player's Guide for Mage, 2nd edition), and considered a definitive work on player responsibility.

Assistant Storyteller

If the workload proves too much for the Head Storyteller, an Assistant Storyteller may be appointed in the future.

Limited Storyteller

Limited Storyteller is the title awarded to players who wish to run a one-shot Story or two. Their Story idea is approved by the Head Storyteller and they are given temporary status and authority equal to an Assistant Storyteller. Their authority extends only to their Storyline, and ends when their Storyline ends. Players are encouraged to be pro-active and bring their ideas to the Head Storyteller. Only the most outlandish plots will normally be turned down -- and one doesn't know what qualifies as outlandish until one asks!

Buddy Storyteller

This system of Storytelling is especially for those players whose time is so limited and/or erratic that they cannot attend any of the many ongoing Stories. It's simple -- the player simply find a fellow player of the CoLA and request he or she run a single, possibly private, Story for that particular character. Of course, the other player is by no means under obligation to comply. This form of Storytelling is entirely optional, and is recommended as a superb way for raw Storytellers to hone their skills. Its parameters otherwise conform to the Limited Storyteller explained above. Please heed them.
