True Names & Naming Conventions

This supplement provides conventions and general rules regarding the names of changeling characters—their true names (or close to their true names). These names are the names of the spirits inhabiting their human form, whether they’ve arrived to Earth from Arcadia or have mastered the Changeling Way (like commoners). It includes Gallain and hsien as well. Note that these conventions do not cover the entirety of a character’s True Name (in the sense of the Art of Naming), but it is part of it!

Any character with no points in the Remembrance or Vision Background is unlikely to recall his true name. However, all characters have one even if they don’t remember it, and so will be recorded accordingly on their character sheets and websites.

Most changelings, who enjoy their titles, follow this convention “Irissulrikr of the Black Ebb”. This happens to be the name of an Aesin Sidhe; note the ethnic (Germanic) verisimilitude followed by a descriptive title. The ethnic verisimilitude follows these conventions per Kith, Family, Kwannon-jin, and/or House.
