Mage: The Ascension
Centropolis by Night: The Technocracy
OOC Overview
The OOC purpose of this game is to provide the semi-moderated Centropolis by Night game with a different angle of Mage: The Ascension. Its purpose is to give interested players the opportunity to explore the themes, moods, and characters of the Technocracy. This game's purpose is not to conflict with the other troupes of CbN. To that end, CbN: Technocracy plotlines will largely stand aloof from other games. Crossovers will be restricted to approved plotlines and the player's individual freeform whim (e.g., playing in Shadows and scoping some of the local Kindred).
All of CbN Mage uses Revised Mage rules -- mostly. There are a few exceptions, a few elements of Revised Mage, which CbN does not use. Details on what elements those would be can be found further along this website. The original players and Storytellers of this troupe agreed to these exceptions during the game's inception. However, that does not mean renegotiation is impossible. Flexibility is a hallmark of any good, stable game. Thus, any new players who join CbN: Technocracy and would like to change the "house rules" may do so by initiating mature discussion. This doesn't guarantee change. It just means we're willing to listen and consider any suggestions.
IC Overview
The Union of the Five Conventions within Centropolis is not a large organization. Combined Enlightened and unEnlightened Personnel number no more than two dozen. Of course, they manipulate many oblivious proles in their schemes to "technocratize" the city. Centropolis is considered a satellite district of the greater Kansas City area, but the Symposium is granted virtual autonomy. The Union's primary strategy in the city is to maintain peace and security, to suppress Reality Deviance only when it shows itself, and to make progress within each Convention's sector of interest.
There are five Convention heads within Centropolis and they sit on the benches of Symposium #BB3201. All other agents obey their laws, which is run essentially as a democratic oligarchy. However, some of these senior officers are nearing either retirement age or promotion to a higher rank. Thus, ambitious young turks might someday take their places and guide the Union in Centropolis to an even brighter future.
Each Convention pursues its own goals and interests. Those are covered on their independent webpage linked (over to the left!) on this website.
